A lighthouse. A moon. A seagull. All in a single shot. Actually you mention single shot, the lighthouse, a seagull and the moon and I'm headed to Rick's for single shot. Well maybe a double.

Many people are unaware that the fence you see along the dunes is not to protect them, but to keep out invading Hons (look the term up). There are many beaches closer to Baltimore for them.

October 4, 2009: Two saviors dropped down from above and gave the old girl the support she needed. I was driving off the island and saw them leaving the shack after giving her some much needed repair. I don't know if she will ever be whole again, but they have guaranteed her a few more years. Thank you.

The rumors of her demise have been grossly exaggerated. If you talked to me at the Merchant Mart on Saturday, October 3, I most likely would have said the Shack had little time left. I had no idea that on October 4 she would get a new lease on life thanks to some anonymous help.

These are the first ever photos of the structural help the shack received. I can write this with confidence. As I pulled up to photograph the shack, the brave men who came to her rescue were just leaving. Thanks again for keeping this LBI icon standing.

By stern I am not referring to that morning radio DJ who's sidekick has a home in Loveladies. No, I am talking about the blue butt of this boat. Although using the term butt does kinda make me sound like him.

What is this piece of metal smiling about? Well my first guess would be that he gets to work in Viking Village everyday. And any day on LBI makes me smile.

This my friends is the look of fear. Will I be filleted and made into a delicious meal? Or will I be thrown back into the beautiful blue Atlantic to wonder for the rest of my life what exactly happened? One minute I was eating lunch, the next, I was in a strange world hanging by my mouth.

I agree we should all stay off the dunes. But ya gotta wonder, how did that sign get up there? I figure the sign placer rented a helicopter and hovered over the dunes and strategically dropped it from above.

My other theory for how the sign got here, knowing that you are not allowed on the dunes, is the Jersey Devil put it there. Has anybody actually seen the Jersey Devil recently? I think he retired to the beach and is making up for years of scaring campers by protecting the shore.

Sorry Spongebob friends, this isn't Patrick. And yes, I had to look up Patrick's name on the internet. I don't really watch the cartoon but knew there was a starfish and thought I might be able to write something witty. Apparently, not.

I finally figured NASCAR out. It all started here on the old merry-go-round. Think about it, as a kid you never wanted to get off the ride. As an adult, the racers never want the perpetual left-hand turn to end.

Back in the days when this was the premier mode of bay propulsion, no one minded using a pull string two to three hundred times to get it started. Today, we like our one button ignition a whole lot better.

Back when cars were guzzling behemoths this one reigned supreme. I say this because I wasn't even born yet so I actually have no idea. I only know when you hit the gas in this baby, you can watch the fuel gauge move in the opposite direction.

Oh, the things this innocent hunk of wood has seen over the years. Vacationers, brides, grooms, dachshunds, and probably even a pill bug or two. I know this description makes no sense. But neither does trying to write four different descriptions for the same location.

Very rare to be the only set of footprints cresting a dune entrance. But like the dunes, the tracks won't last. Mother nature will erase them so that you'll have a chance to be the first.

Once upon a time, a boy named Jack went to the marina to get fresh fish for dinner. Along the way he spent the money his mother had given him on a beer instead. Scared of his mother's wrath, he planted the beer mug on the tip of LBI. Next day, a lighthouse grew. Go figure.
