Photographed in Barnegat Light in December of 2008
This is a shot of Old Barney pre-relighting. Hoping to get a bunch after she's lit up like a reveler on Saint Patty's day. Since this was shot in low light, the image is a bit grainy. I'd stray away from prints larger than 11" x 14".

Well the lighthouse itself isn't exactly snowy, but there is a dusting. And when you have a steady flow of salt air, a dusting is like a foot of the powdery goodness.

The beach is open. Wide open. As a matter of fact, if you dare venture onto the beach in December in 20 degree weather, you are pretty much guaranteed to have the place all to yourself.

Winter clothesline, winter beach, and a winter ocean. Where are the winter clothes? Probably not on the line because if they were, they would be clothescicles.

The only thing that would make this shot better, would be a little snow. Of course snow and salt air make for a very brief blanket. Very tough to be at the right place and right time. I'll keep trying.

This is the start of any good day at the beach. Then again, this was shot at sunset, so I guess the day is over and you are heading back to the beach because you forgot your flip-flops.

I don't know much about cars other than most are ugly rolling uninspired hunks of boredom. Every once in a while though an automotive designer creates a classic. This BelAir is a fine example

Fins to the left of me, fins to the right. I imagine Jimmy might have had this in mind when he wrote that song. Okay the song had nothing to do with this car, but you try writing witty captions for all these photos.

Not exactly sure why athletes wear these on their feet for better traction, but they do. ... What? ... Oh ... Apparently that's a different kind of cleat, go figure.

One question: What are these pots doing on the dock? Crabs are resourceful, sure, but they are not going to climb a piling, hop in an empty pot and then wait to be steamed and placed on my dinner plate. Get these suckers in the bay, toot sweet.

Wood this old shouldn't float. As a matter of fact, it should just be sawdust or toothpicks. But somehow this old hull not only stays intact, but afloat.

Yup, I said(okay, wrote) it, anchors. Oh sure, at one time they were railroad car wheels, but now they have been recycled as anchors. Rusty, chipping, kinda nasty anchors, but anchors none the less.

Looks like the Assistant Rescue Chief may have been in a hurry 60 years ago and popped a hole in the garage. Or is the garage just disintegrating around the vehicle?

The public dock in Harvey Cedars is a great place to fish and crab during the day. If you can hold off heading to happy hour, it's also a great place for sunsets.

That's one lucky branch. Think about it. The branch breaks off a tree hundreds of miles from this beach, then has the fortune to wash up here. Night after night it gets to gaze upon these kinds of sunsets. Do branches gaze?

You may be wondering how I can get a photo of the sun setting in Holgate and this one setting in Harvey Cedars on the same day. It's easy when it's March on LBI. Try to get from Holgate to Harvey Cedars in the summer and you'll be shooting the sunset from the next week.

Hard to believe this is the Barnegat inlet. If you've ever taken a boat through it in the height of summer you know it is rarely a smooth ride. I guess even the inlet does a little hibernating in the winter.

All his life he wanted to be a jellyfish, but unfortunately, he was born a scallop. Living your life as a jellyfish caught in a scallop shell's body is not an easy life. It was only upon his death he was able to achieve his dream.
